How does CBD affect your weight?

It can accelerate metabolism and reduce food intake.

Preliminary research suggests that CBD may reduce food intake and accelerate metabolism, which may promote weight loss.

For example, animal studies indicate that CBD affects weight by interacting with CB1 and CB2 receptors in lymphatic tissue and the brain. These receptors are believed to play an important role in metabolism and food intake. clinical trial 1, clinical trial 2

In a two-week study, rats injected CBD daily at doses of 1.1 and 2.3 mg (2.5 and 5 mg per kg). Both doses resulted in a significant decrease in body weight, with the higher dose having the most pronounced effect. It should be noted that CBD has been injected and not given orally.

In another study in CBD rats, it has led to a significant decrease in food intake compared to other cannabinoids, including cannabigerol(CBG) and cannabinol(CBN)

CBD causes 'browning' fat cells

In your body there are two types of fat – white and brown. White fat is the dominant form responsible for storing and supplying energy during organ insulation and cushioning. clinical trial

It is also a type of fat most commonly associated with chronic diseases – such as diabetes and heart disease – when accumulated in excess. clinical trial

On the other hand, brown fat is responsible for producing heat by burning calories. People with a healthy weight tend to have more brown fat than overweight people.  clinical trial

You can turn white fat into brown, practicing, properly sleeping and exposing yourself to low temperatures. clinical trial

Interestingly, research shows that CBD can help with this process. A test conducted in tubes showed that CBD led to "browning" in white fat cells and increased the expression of specific genes and proteins that cause brown fat.

Marijuana use causes weight loss

Although marijuana use is usually associated with increased food intake, people using marijuana tend to weigh less than those who don't.

For example, a review of more than 50,000 people saw an obesity rate of 14-17% among marijuana users at least 3 days a week, compared with 22-25% for people reporting non-marijuana use in the last 12 months.

Because CBD is common in marijuana, it probably participates in this compound – although it is not clear how. That said, scientists believe that cannabinoids as a whole – including CBD – affect appetite, metabolism and other weight-related body functions

Can CBD cause weight gain?

Although CBD can have a beneficial effect on appetite and weight loss, it can conversely cause weight gain.

Some studies have shown that CBD increases appetite. In fact, one of the most common side effects of CBD treatment is an appetite change. In one study, researchers interviewed 117 parents of children treated with CBD to control the symptoms of epilepsy. Although parents reported a reduction in the symptoms of epilepsy, 30% of them claimed that CBD oil significantly increased their children's appetite. Test. clinical trial

However, studies show mixed results on cbd effects on appetite. clinical trial

One 3-month study involved 23 children with Dravet syndrome – a type of epilepsy – up to 11.4 mg CBD (25 mg per kg). Some children have experienced an increase in appetite, but others have experienced a decline. clinical trial

In addition, a recent review in 2,409 CBD users found that 6.35% felt increased hunger as a side effect. clinical trial

Further research is needed to understand cbd's full impact on appetite because it seems different. Many factors can affect hunger when taking CBD, including genetics and the type of product used.

Should you try CBD oil to lose weight?

While it is unclear whether CBD oil is effective in weight loss, it has been shown to improve health in other ways. It is relatively safe, with a low risk of side effects.

Further research is needed – especially in humans – to determine how this marijuana product affects weight. The findings that exist are relatively weak and inconsistent. Therefore, CBD oil is not recommended as an effective way to lose weight. It's best to try other supplements to help you lose weight – especially since CBD products don't belong to cheap ones.
